About the locality:
Being subsumed in the village of Cezieni, Corlăteşti is occasionally referred to as Cezieni-Sârbi. It was founded with the occasion of the migration wave of 1806–1814 (Roman, L. 1984: 140). The 1838 registry of the population records the presence of 44 “Serbian” households (Velichi, C. N. 1965: 112). Bulgarians from Corlăteşti actively participated in the 1848 revolution (Velichi, C. N. 1971: 258). G. Weigand visited the village in 1898 and later included it in his atlas as a locality with Bulgarian population (Weigand, G. 1900: 117; Weigand, G. 1909: Map 67). Ninety-three families (440 persons), stemming from Orjahovo Region, were living there at the beginning of the twentieth century (Романски, С. 1935: 79–82). There also are families, stemming from the nearby village of Frăsinet. A group of the population has moved from Corlăteşti to Traian. Fieldwork in 1970 revealed that almost all of the 180 families, residing in the village, are Bulgarians at an advanced stage of intermarriage with Romanians. Младенов, М. 1994 contains the dialect texts from Corlăteşti that present traditional wedding customs.
