About the locality:
The village was mentioned in connection with Bulgarian settlers from 1806–1814 under the name Sârbii ot Udeni (
Roman, L. 1984: 143). The 1838 registry of the population recorded the presence of 37 “Serbian” households (
Velichi, C. N. 1965: 114). At the end of the nineteenth century the residents were referred to as “Serbs and Bulgarians”, who lived in isolation from the surrounding Romanians and had market gardening as their main occupation (

Weigand, G. 1909: Map 67). S. Romanski defined its population as western Bulgarian (
Романски, С. 1914: 24).
